After some research, the results have officially come in.

First of all, Happy V-Day to everyone. Today happens to be the most romantic day of the year and if you drive by any store within the next few hours you will see people running around trying to buy just the right thing for the occasion.

There are so many different types of candies out there and if you're stuck on what to purchase, this might be able to help you. According to candystore.com, New York's favorite Valentine's Day candies are.....

  1. Heart-shaped box of chocolates
  2. Conversation hearts
  3. Cinnamon bears

Some other popular choices from other states are M&M's, Hershey Kisses and chocolate roses.

Sales data from the past few years have been used to figure this out and there have been different trends and patterns. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, sales on candy had dropped, but they are expected to increase this year. More specifically, consumer spending is supposed to go up by 10% and reach $23.9 billion. The number of people buying candy is supposed to be at a new high of 56%, wow.

Whether you have someone special in your life or not, today is a great excuse to treat yourself to something sweet. As someone who doesn't have someone special this holiday, I've planned ahead and bought myself a few chocolates and will definitely be having a glass of wine later. Even if heart-shaped boxes of chocolates aren't your favorite you have plenty of other choices to help make today a little bit more special.

Speaking of chocolates, here are some cool places to get some if your'e stuck:
