The Milk Factory was located in Walden, NY and currently is vacant. The Silk Factory is located in Newburgh, NY and is a thriving location for events, live music and more.

The Chocolate Factory is located in Red Hook, NY and is now a business center. Within Ulster County, NY there are also a lot of interesting factories that continue to live on.

Did You Know About These Historic Ulster County, NY Factories?


Some parts of Ulster County, NY date back to the 1600's. Guests can now live in a 1920's shirt factory within Kingston, NY. The Shirt Factory was known as the Fessenden Shirt Factory.

Today, guests can enjoy this location as a studio, workplace, a place to call home and more. In addition to the Shirt Factory, locals may also be familiar with the former cigar factory in the area.

The Center for Photography at Woodstock also known as CPW has opened in a former cigar factory in Kingston, NY.

The CPW is located in the former G.W. Van Slyke & Horton cigar factory. It's possible that this factory is the oldest of its kind in the Hudson Valley.

The CPW shared information about pictures of this factory. They included that Kingston, NY's cigar factory dates back to 1913. In the pictures provided, we get to take a look into the lives of those who worked at G.W. Van Slyke & Horton cigar factory when they opened.

Pictures of employees, tobacco and the space are intriguing.

Today, this non profit organization brings life into this once vacant building by providing the community with a local museum, photography and event space and more. It's nice to see these buildings being filled with purpose and a sense of community. We would make our ancestors of the area proud!
