Check Your Fridge: Popular Butter Brand Has Been Recalled In New York State
I use butter all the time! This product is in so many recipes that we prepare for our meals or purchase pre-made in the grocery store.
A tasty New York state bagel, toasted with butter is always an ideal weekend breakfast option. We could use butter in our pasta and even on our vegetables.
There’s also been discussions on social media about if it's okay to leave butter out on the counter or if we should store it in the fridge. Personally, butter belongs in the fridge until we want to use it!
With the upcoming holidays including Passover, Easter and Mother’s Day, we may be using this product in our recipes.
Popular Butter Brand Has Been Recalled
On April 10, 2025, The Associated Press shared information about the latest butter recall within New York State
They explained,
“A Vermont firm has recalled more than 1,700 pounds of butter because it may be contaminated with coliform, a type of bacteria in fecal matter”
Not only was this butter distributed to New York state but other states including Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Arkansas.
Although this recall was issued in March 2025, the Associated Press mentioned that it has been “ongoing” and is a low level of recall.
Either way, I wouldn't want to use this butter at Easter dinner or any type of event coming up.
What Should Consumers Do If They Purchase This Recalled Butter?
The Associated Press explained that those who purchased this butter should not consume or use it. If you have the brand of butter, be sure to check the best by date. If the date is best by Sept 9 and has a lot number of 090925-055, it may be the recalled product.
New York Times shared,
“Agri-Mark successfully recovered 99.5 percent of the lot of the recalled product before it was sold to consumers”
Additional information about Cabot Creamery butter recall can be found on the company's website and with The Associated Press.
