So, let me get this straight: I can wait in line for ice cream or pizza but they're concerned about going to my local polling place to exercise my rights?

In the next few months, we will start to see more and more businesses in the Hudson Valley open their doors. Though there's no guarantee without a crystal ball, we may even start see small gatherings emerge at some point. Some Hudson Valley residents are wondering where voting polls will fall. Will voting via snail mail be part of the "new normal" in upcoming elections?

Will New York residents send their votes for local, state or even national elections by mail? Though nothing has been official yet, there has been some debate on whether future elections should be limited to mail-in voting only.

If you live in Dutchess County, you may have already received applications from the Board of Elections to request a mail-in ballot. Per the letter, the mail ballot application is designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. If you want to request an absentee because you want to avoid polls because of COVID-19 just select the 'Temporary Illness' box. ballot by selecting the box. If you have not received the form physical you can also find it here.

Would you trust the voting by mail process? Not to discredit any election board or the U.S. Postal Service but I do question if this process can be successful in handling thousands of ballots with so many variables.

With local elections taking place soon as well as the presidential election just months away should the nation be working towards a better alternative to mailing in your vote?  Is drive-thru or curbside voting an option? It's 2020. How is there not an app for that?
