21 States Experience Gorgeous Northern Light Show, Including NY

On Tuesday night, November 11th 2025, the sky put on quite the show.

At the time SPACE.com reported that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration believed that 2 "incoming coronal mass ejections (CMEs)" could potentially spark geomagnetic storm conditions.

21 states were predicted to see the geomagnetic storm including Alaska, Michigan, Vermont, Maine, Montana, Wisconsin, Wyoming and New York.

Looks like the experts were on to something!

New Yorkers shared incredible photos on the night of November 11th of the geomagnetic storm that cause gorgeous purples, greens and pinks to light up the sky.

The experts are calling now for an even stronger showing on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025.

Northern Lights Dazzle Hudson Valley Sky, When Can You See Them Again?

Social media was ablaze with photos of the Northern Lights on Tuesday night.

Check out this great shot that Sullivan County Tourism shared on their Facebook page around 8:54 pm:

Wallkill Hook, Ladder and Hose Co. shared these photos from their fill sight around 11:54 pm.

Experts are saying there is a very good chance that the Northern Lights will be visible again on Wednesday, November 12th.

While there's no exact time to look for it, but as soon as the sun goes down, and it gets dark take a look up at the sky.

You can also follow along on the NOAA Space Condition website that updates every 30 minutes that will indicate where the geomagnetic storm is visible.

How to Photograph The Northern Lights With Your Cell Phone

It seems like every few weeks we're seeing photos of the Northern Lights splayed across our social media timelines.

But how are people getting such good photos of the Northern Lights? It's all about the settings on your phone or camera.

I found the following tips from a Michigan photographer that are extremely helpful. Take a look:

The only thing we have to worry about is if we get a clear or cloudy night. NOAA is predicting a partly cloudy night that will eventually clear.
