Bags For Badges Raising Money for Local PBA

The cornhole trend started as backyard fun during the warmer months and quickly became a serious sport across the nation. Locally, there are a ton of Hudson Valley businesses that host cornhole nights for players to get in a few games and build up those bragging rights.

Gerard Pfitscher, who works at the Dutchess County Sheriff's office, and Dave Longbard of Keller Williams Realty were playing at a cornhole tournament at a local fire department when they thought up the idea of something similar to do for the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriffs Police Benevolent Association.

Pfitscher and Longbard then reached out to Michael Vanhouten of Cornhole Madness Events and Bags for Badges was born.

All Skill Levels Are Welcome at Bags for Badges in Poughkeepsie, NY

Bags for Badges is going down on Saturday, April 20th at the MJN Center in Poughkeepsie. Starting at 11 am teams will have the opportunity to play cornhole with a chance to win prizes in 3 different divisions and the top prize of $1,000.

We spoke with the guys who told us that all skill levels are welcome to Bags for Badges. Entry to the MJN Center is free while registration is $80 per team if you sign up before April 15th. The price goes up to $100 after April 15th.

Players will be playing by the following rules:

Boards 27 feet apart
Teams will play standing next to their competitor
Player will stand behind the foul line to throw the bag, alternate throws between teams
Receive 1 point for a bag that lands on the board, 3 points for a bag in the hole and 0 points for a bag on the ground
The first team to reach 21 points WINS

Spectators are welcome! Bags for Badges has a great musical lineup to keep the crowds entertained with appearances by Misfit Toys, Weekend at Bernie's and Natasha B.
