Visit All 180 New York State Parks

New York State is gorgeous all year round and some of the best places to embrace that beautiful scenery are at New York State Parks.

In all there are 180 state parks that you can visit across the Empire State including Rockefeller State Park PreserveHudson River Islands State Park in Coxsackie and Frozen Ocean State Forest near the Finger Lakes.

New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation are sharing a fun and free way for seniors to check out what most of the parks have to offer across the state.

Golden Park Program Gives NY Seniors Special Access to State Parks

According to the New York State Parks website, if you're a New York resident ages 62 or older you can "obtain free vehicle access to most state parks."

It's called the Golden Park Program, not only does it include most state parks, but also boat launch sites and arboretums.

The program also provides "fee reduction to state historic sites and state-operated golf courses."

Members of the Golden Park Program will be able to access parks Monday through Friday, but not on holidays.

How to Sign Up For The Golden Park Program

There's no application needed for the New York State Golden Park Program.

Seniors who want to participate must present their current, valid, New York State Drivers License or NYS Non-Driver Identification Card at whatever park entrance they plan on visiting.

Free vehicle access is not valid at the following parks:

Walkway Over the Hudson
Earl W. Brydges Artpark
Lake Superior State Park
Fahnestock Winter Park
Mark Twain State Park
Soaring Eagles Golf Course
Ganondagan State Historic Site.
