Fishkill, NY Students Accept Police D.A.R.E to Be Awesome
Not only did the students learn, but they were able to have some fun along the way.
During elementary school, I remember having a police officer come into our class and teach us all about the D.A.R.E Program. He was very nice and even though he was going over serious stuff with us, he made it fun and I actually still remember him to this day. I have a feeling some students in Fishkill had a very similar experience.
The Town of Fishkill Police Department Facebook Page put pictures up recently of Officer Kelly with some students from Fishkill Elementary School, as you can see in the photo it looks like it was a beautiful day. For some extra fun, the students were allowed to "be the police" because they showed great behavior and participation during the class.
Here's the proof:
Think they were able to turn the siren on? How cool would it be if other towns followed this idea?
You can see a lot of smiles in the picture below, but it's also a lesson that you don't want to really end up in the backseat of the police car.
Say cheese, I'm sure they had a great time all trying to fit inside the back.
It really did look like it was a great day for everyone and I'm sure the students went home and told their families all about it.
Thank you to Officer Kelly and the Town of Fishkill Police Department for keeping us safe and showing us how to have fun along the way.
