What do you typically do with your old Christmas tree? I'm referring to the live Christmas tree that smells like fresh pine and fills your home with the true holiday spirit.

Previously, I saw folks who put their Christmas tree outside in their yard for our furry friends to have. Others will stand the tree up outdoors, fill it with bird feeders, and put pinecones on it with honey or peanut butter for wildlife. There are options to give your Christmas tree a second purpose. However, some counties have a certain date where you can leave your tree by the road and they will pick it up.

There are plenty of different options for disposing of your Christmas tree.

A Hudson Valley Humane Society is collecting Christmas trees to drop off and donate to their friends at a local sanctuary. With everything going on in the world, it's heartwarming to see one organization helping out another.

The Humane Society of Walden and Woodstock Farm Sanctuary are teaming up to once again, assist animals. You can drop off your Christmas tree at the Humane Society of Walden by Friday, January 14, 2022.

The goats at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary would greatly appreciate this; they love to munch on them. This way, you would be getting rid of your Christmas tree and supplying food for farm animals. It's wonderful when things work hand and hand similar to this situation.

The Humane Society of Walden takes pride in being a no-kill, nonprofit safe space for stray and abandoned cats and dogs. They provide quality care and assist animals in what they need before finding their fur-ever home. Personally, I used to volunteer with The Humane Society of Walden and it was one of the most rewarding experiences thus far. I also adopted two cats from this facility. One of my close friends recently adopted a cat. We are thankful for this caring organization to supply homeless pets with the care, love, and attention they deserve.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary

2 Rescue Rd, High Falls NY 12440

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary intends to bring peace and justice to all living beings. They rescue farm animals and provide them with care, love, and shelter. They also emphasize the importance of veganism related to animals and are advocates for animal rights. Woodstock Farm Sanctuary invites the community to meet their animal residents and learn about how we can protect them at all costs. Shockingly, I haven't had the chance to visit here. I have heard great things about this organization and can't wait to see it in person soon.
