There are a million things to love about Florida, the weather, the water, and Disney!! All great, if we were talking about that Florida...LOL...but we aren't! We are talking about Flordia, New York!!!

Yes, there is a Flordia, New York, (actually two of them, one in Montgomery County, New York, and one in Orange County, New York). The Village of Florida, in Orange County New York is where we have landed, and are excited to share some of the things we love about the small village.

Florida New York doesn't have a Disney theme park, but it is a short drive to one of the coolest places anywhere!! Depending on where you start in Florida, you are only around a 15-20 minute drive from LEGOLAND New York Resort!! If you are a fan of rides, family fun, and LEGOS, Legoland is a must-visit!! They are located at 1 Legoland Blvd, Goshen, NY a short drive from Florida.

Florida, New York

If you are planning to visit Florida anytime soon we've come up with four things we love about the small Orange County village. Originally called Brookland, Florida had its name officially changed back in the 1760s and was incorporated in 1946 according to Wikipedia.

Spanktown Road

Forgive me for writing like I'm a child but any town that has a road with a name like Spanktown, is a town that I automatically LOVE.....LOL! Yes, Spanktown Road runs through Florida, and according to a few fans, there's a house on the road that does an amazing holiday light display. Harry texted us, "There is a good holiday light display in Florida on Spanktown town rd and it is the last year they are doing it." If you know what house Harry is talking about make sure you tell them to enter their display in our Light up the Hudson Valley contest here.

Polish Roots

Flordia is one Hudson Valley town that has strong Polish roots. According to Wikipedia, Flordia saw many Polish immigrants settle there in the 19th century which is probably why the area still is home to one of the area's most popular Polish delis. Bill texted us, "Florida, there is a terrific Polish deli opposite the Florida firehouse." Bill told us, "They make several varieties of perogies, and have all sorts of imported goodies, including beautifully wrapped confections from Europe, especially at Xmas and Easter time. It's worth the trip!" The Florida Bakery & Deli is located at 10 S Main St, Florida, NY.
