One of the most frustrating moments for a driver is when you are traveling along the roadway, making good time, and all-of-a-sudden there is a crew working on the road ahead and it slows you down. Or does it?
Since April, more than 130,000 motorists have been issued speeding tickets in New York State for not slowing down in work zones. Here are the Top 10 New York regions issued speeding tickets in work zones.
The Automated Work Zone Speed Enforcement is a 5-year program designed to slow motorists down in work zones and to make our highways safer. The way it works is similar to the camera that reads your plate at a toll booth.
These cameras collect the time, date, posted speed, vehicle speed, location, lane, and direction of travel. Your license plate information is captured and used to identify the registered owner of the vehicle captured. Next thing you know you have a ticket in the mail.
More than 37,000 speeding tickets were issued on the New York State Thruway alone.
