The scam that is taking place involves people going door-to-door and representing themselves as (and they are not) members of the Sullivan County NY Board of Elections. Allegedly the people will be nice at first, then they will confront you about your voter registration status, and then accusing you of committing a crime because of the way you are registered in the voters database. One of the quickest ways to know that these people are not representatives of the Sullivan County Board of Elections is that these people do not handle themselves in a professional manner, nor will they be able to show you identification that verifies they are with the Board of Elections.
