According to the Village of Liberty Facebook page, they will be participating in a special crackdown to stop drunk driving and the department will be teaming up with law enforcement from across the state to do this.

What does this special DWI crackdown mean?

It means that law enforcement officers will take to the roads and be out in full force to reduce the number of drug-impaired driving-related injuries and deaths. The statewide STOP DWI Campaign is a high-visibility campaign and it has lead to significant reductions in the number of alcohol and drug related injuries.

When will the STOP DWI Campaign begin?

The campaign has already started throughout the Hudson Valley. It started today (April 20th) and it will end on Friday, April 21. The campaign also targets big times like Halloween, Thanksgiving, the Super Bowl, St. Patrick's Day, the holiday season, Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.

There are always simple tips to remember: if you're out drinking and have too much get a ride home, plan in advance how you will get home, use travel options like Uber and Lyft when needed and don't let your friends drive impaired.

Thank you to all the police officers that participate in the STOP DWI Campaign and for keeping us safe. We hope everyone stays safe out there and makes good choices.
