This time of year we all want to help out in our community. It the perfect time of year to lend a helping hand. Being an extra set of hands can make all the difference. As I always like to say not every donation is about money some can be about time and energy. Time and energy are what the Salt Point Fire Company is long for this Saturday (November 28th).

It is their annual Trees for Troops loading event and they need all hands on deck. Troops for trees is the Salt Point Fire Company's way of supporting our troops and their families this time of year. They have been raising money throughout the month of November and for most of 2020. They raise the money all year then turn all of it into Tree for Troops and now it is time to load up some trees. Last year they were able to donate 425 trees.

This Saturday at 9 AM they are looking for people to help load trees at Hahn's Farm on Salt Point Turnpike in the Town of Pleasant Valley. I can't think of a better way to work of some of those Thanksgiving calories then helping to load trees for our troops. Once again this year with the funds raised they hope to be loading at least 400 trees.

If you plan to come you must wear a mask or face covering. You will also be asked to sign in when you arrive and sign out when you leave. They are asking that everyone please follow the safety guidelines set up for the event. If you are just hearing about this for the first time there is still time to make a donation.

Jeff Cady the Salt Point Fire Company President shared this information with me via Facebook messenger when I reach out after seeing their post they shared tonight (November 24th) on Facebook. He also mentioned that all donations are tax deductible. He wrote that "The fire company takes in all the donations and we have been taking donations all year and then turn every penny into trees." Feel free to reach out to them through Facebook for additional information.
