I'm always learning about the history of the Hudson Valley which makes it exciting to live here!  The Hudson Valley is filled with fascinating stories that we remind of the people who have shared the area we get to call home!

Discover Sullivan County's Historic CInema And See What's Playing This Summer

I was excited to learn about The Callicoon Theater! Their website shared that this theater was first built in 1948. The Callicoon Theater also highlighted that they are known for being, 

"the oldest continually operated cinema in Sullivan County, New York. "

It's pretty neat that they have 350 seats at this theater where we can see it's historic charm and more.

What Can We See On The BIg Screen At The Callicoon Theater This Summer?

I went to the drive in's last summer but haven't been to a movie theater in a while! It would be fun to kick back, grab some snacks and see something fun on the big screen. At The Callicoon Theater, we can see upcoming movies including The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Toy Story 5 and more!

The Callicoon Theater explained that they keep their admission prices lower than other theaters in the area to preserve the nostalgic!

They also highlighted that they are known for having some tasty treats. A staple at movie theaters is always their popcorn! The Callicoon Theater stated,

"Everyone knows we have the best popcorn in Sullivan County.  It comes from a fourth generation farm in Lancaster, PA and is 100% organic."

What Else Can We Do In Callicoon, NY?

The Callicoon Theater is a great place to watch a movie in a historic setting. They are also available for events and parties which would be fun. While in the area, we can check out this quaint hamlet.

Since this is located in the Catskills but also along the Delaware River, there's so much natural beauty to see. We can also go kayaking, tubing and more with their many outdoor activities.

Visitors also enjoy checking out the local shops and restaurants in Callicoon as well. Each year, a country fair happens in Callicoon with line dancing, local vendors and more.
