RUPCO, a Hudson Valley nonprofit agency that leads the region in the creation of affordable housing and community development, is now accepting tenant applications through July 16th, 2021, for East End II, an affordable housing development in Newburgh, NY.

East End II is a scattered-site development that includes 22 residential building sites within a six-block radius. The development features historic restoration and new construction of 61 apartments located on DuBois, First, Chambers, Johnston, Lander, and S. Miller Streets. Resident amenities at East End II include community gathering space, tenant-paid laundry at 122 Lander St., an on-site superintendent, and close proximity to mass transportation routes, services, and retail.

The project also undertakes the adaptive rehabilitation of Highpoint (the former United Methodist Church) and an adjacent building located at 257 Liberty St. The two currently vacant structures will be transformed into community space set to open in 2022. The church’s sanctuary area will be preserved and used for event space and other forms of community engagement. LYNC will provide daycare and job training opportunities at both buildings.

All tenant applications for RUPCO’s East End II must be received by July 16th, 2021. Eligible applications received after July 26 will be placed on a waitlist for future occupancy. RUPCO expects several units to be available for occupancy as soon as the summer of 2021 with additional units becoming available through January 2022.

Applications can be downloaded online at RUPCO.org, and printed copies are available for pick up in the lobby of RUPCO's Fair Street office in Kingston and at 169 Lander St. Newburgh.
