Did you know about this hidden Hudson Valley spot?

There are so many stories from the Hudson Valley that it can be hard to keep track of them all. I was looking at a couple of Facebook groups (you can really go down a rabbit hole with them) and a "Police Camp" in the Catskill area kept getting mentioned.

I was wondering how many people knew about this.

What's the story behind a police camp in the Hudson Valley?

This is a pretty recent picture of a police camp. Many people wrote in and said they worked there for the summer and had an amazing experience there. People actually stayed here for vacations and it was a popular spot in the Catskill area for the summer.

Comments from people who went to the Police Camp:

"1958 was my last vacation there and this building with the tall roof to the left of the hotel was not there at the time. To this day, the two weeks at the Police Camp are my fondest memories, ever." Tim

'That photo of the dining room holds many memories of that and other spaces within the building and grounds. My father was in the 52. I spent two weeks of each of the first five years of my life,1943-1947, and many other times up until the last time in 1959 there." Matthew

"I LOVED THE POLICE CAMP AS A CHILD.....WAKING UP TO HEARING FATS DOMINO SINGING "BLUEBERRY HILL"....MY PARENTS GOING TO THE HUDDLE ROOM......THE NURSE ON SITE WHO HAD A LOT OF KIDS.....THE WHITE BUILDING USED FOR CHURCH MOVIES BINGO ETC. PLAYING SHUFFLE BOARD NEAR THE POOL....THE NOISY HIGH ENERGY DINING." ROOM...ETC. JUST A HAPPY TIME....YEARS LATER I WENT BACK TO VISIT WITH MY CHILDREN AND WHAT SEEMED SO LARGE AS A CHILD SEEMED SO MUCH SMALLER AS AN ADULT....BUT THE HAPPY MEMORIES REMAINED." Jackie

So, it was a full camp and vacation spot. The buildings and the land looked beautiful and it was open a while ago.
