On Friday, Orange County had 62 available ICU beds, according to Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus. Health officials were able to increase that total to 199 ICU beds. As of Monday, only 14 percent of those beds are available, Neuhaus announced during his Monday COVID-19 update.

"This is just staggering. It tells you where this impact is. It is a very serious concern for us a community and should wake up anyone that isn't paying attention to social distancing because that loved one that might need a bed might be in that 14 percent, or what if you are outside of it," Neuhaus said.

Neuhaus also confirmed over 1,430 confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County. Only Long Island, New York City, Westchester and Rockland counties have more confirmed cases.

Neuhaus also announced three more Orange County residents died from the virus, bringing the county total to 12. On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo confirmed 1,218 New Yorkers have now died from the virus.

"That's a lot of loss. That's a lot of pain, Cuomo said.

Cuomo again stressed the longer someone is on a ventilator the less likely you will come off one.
