If you are an artist or you know someone who is please tell them about the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's (NYS DEC) Arbor Day Post Contest. Imagine having a piece of art you created represent Arbor Day all over New York State.

The NYS DEC asks the public each year to consider submitting a piece of artwork that can be used in a program to promote Arbor around New York State. The art is transformed into a print that gets distributed around New York. It can be a photo or an original piece of art you create. This tradition has resulted in the poster prints becoming collector's items.

How to submit work for the NYS DEC Arbor Day Contest

The NYS DEC has been accepting submissions since September 12th, 2022, and will continue to accept art until December 31, 2022. So, if you don't have anything created yet you still have time.

Where to Find Dinner in Ulster County

Hidden Gem Hudson Valley Restaurants

These Hudson Valley restaurants aren't really hard to get to or to find nor are they really off the beaten path. They just might not be on your daily travel route around Orange and Ulster Counties. Check your GPS and put them on your restaurant list for an upcoming night out.

Make One Of These Bird Feeder Pumpkins

How to Make a Pumpkin Bird Feeder

I can't take credit for inventing this clever fall-themed bird feeder. I actually saw it first posted by the Farmer's Almanac. This is the Pumpkin BIrdfeeder I made this weekend with a Hudson Valley pumpkin and some birdseed grown in the USA. Nature arts and crafts at my house this weekend turned out to be really easy and fun to watch once the squirrels and chipmunks found it.
