I'm a Hudson Valley native and I didn't know that New York state had a second capital until recently. I was aware that Albany, NY is New York state's capital and was also excited to learn about it's second capital.
Was Albany, NY Always New York State's Capital?
Discover Albany shared the historical facts about New York state. They mentioned,
"the New York State Capitol has served as the seat of government for New York since the 1880s."
Discover Albany also mentioned that the area was settled more than 400 years ago by Dutch settlers. They shared that this is the time when Henry Hudson's ship also first sailed on the Hudson River which has been named after him.

According to The City of Kingston,
"Kingston, dating to the arrival of the Dutch in 1652, is a vibrant city with rich history and architecture, was the state's first capital, and a thriving arts community."
94.3 Lite FM explained that in 1777, Kingston, NY was New York's first capital. However, it was burned by the British on October 13, 1777, after the Battles of Saratoga.

I love learning about history within New York state, especially in the Hudson Valley. Dutchess.org shared incredible information about New York State's second capital.
