New Meadery Set to Open This Month in the Hudson Valley

A meadery will be opening its doors for the first this month in the Hudson Valley.

Finally, some good news about local businesses! Slate Point Meadery will be opening a tasting room right in Poughkeepsie later this month. They'll be opening up shop at 184 Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Slate Point Meadery is a staple in the Hudson Valley and they'll finally have a tasting room. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic shuttering a lot of businesses, they'll be opening for business on Thursday, June 11.

Back in February, we wrote about the plans for Slate Point Meadery to open up this year. Original plans were to have a variety of meads on tap, as well as offerings from local food trucks. That plan had to change a little bit because of rules during the pandemic. But Slate Point Meadery will be open for bottles and cans to-go only. Some of the options they will be offering are Rivers & Roses, which is a mead made with New York State clover honey and cab franc grapes but aged in white wine barrels. The Hudson Berry is a mead that features blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries.

Like the majority of businesses in the Hudson Valley, they are taking precautions to ensure the safety and health of employees and guests. People will not be allowed inside. A table will be set up in front of the tasting room to pick-up your bottle and can order. This makes it so only one person/group can get their order and see the space. All employees will have gloves and face masks on and they ask that you wear a face mask when at their location.

When Slate Point Meadery opens, they will be open Thursday through Sunday. Thursdays and Fridays they will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Ordering will begin on Monday, June 8. for the time being, they will only be taking credit and debit transactions, no cash.
