Halloween is about a week away and you know the Trick-or-Treating debates are about to fire up on social media.

Trunk-or-Treat is The New Trick-or-Treating?

This weekend my parents had signed up for a Trunk-or-Treat event in the Town of Poughkeepsie at Crown Heights baseball fields. There was a great turn out with hundreds of kids dressed up in their spookiest get up and cars decked out in awesome decoration displays.

Did you know you can purchase a Trunk-or-Treat decorating kit on Amazon? Needless to say, its becoming a tradition every year for different towns across the Hudson Valley (and the US) to host Trunk or Treat events.

This weekends festivities got me thinking, due to the popularity...Should Trunk-or-Treats replace regular Trick-or-Treating?

Should Trunk-or-Treats replace regular Trick-or-Treating?

What if everyone on Halloween decorated their cars and brought them to the end of the driveway for one big Trunk-or-Treat on the actual holiday? I'm just thinking of all the candy people have to buy and decore for their cars all to just have to buy more in a few weeks for actually Halloween?

It just seems like a lot of money to me.

And then some families are going all out with their costumes and even changing costumes for different Trunk-or-Treat events. Sounds stressful and a little expensive (hello inflation!).

We asked on our social media pages what YOU think about Trunk-or-Treats taking over for regular Trick-or-Treating and well the passion of Halloween came out in full force.

One person wrote on Facebook:

No. I personally like that we have both. Trunk or treats are taking place over a few days while trick or treating is on Halloween. I think this is fun for the kids and if the parents can't take them to t-o-t then this is a great extra. It's also great for kids who don't want to get scared. I say keep both.

Another added:

When you spend $50 on a costume, the trunk or treat make Halloween last a little bit longer and make a little bit more events for the kids to wear those costumes too.

And then the conversation took a HUGE turn:

No, but trick or treating should be the last Saturday in October so it isn't on a school night. The day after Halloween is always the worst for students and teachers.

Should Halloween be changed to the last Saturday in October? Well, that's a conversation for another day...
