A $5,000 reward is being offered to locate the owner of a dog that was recently abandoned at a park in Rockland County, New York.

The Hudson Valley Humane Society is currently seeking the public's help to try and locate the person or persons who is responsible for abandoning a dog at the Harriman State Park, which spans Orange and Rockland counties.

Dog Abandoned at New York State Park

According to a post on the Hudson Valley Humane Society (HVHS) Facebook page, the dog, which was reportedly left tied to a tree overnight in Harriman State Park on February 26th, was in rough shape when it was rescued. The HVHS said the dog is a female and is likely a Tibetan Mastiff, or a Mastiff mix, which are not common breeds. They did provide a picture (below) of the dog but no other details because this is an active investigation.

$5,000 Reward to Find Who's Responsible

The HVHS, located at 200 Quaker Rd, Pomona, NY, said that its Humane Law Enforcement Division is investigating this case of animal cruelty and is offering a $5,000.00 reward to the person who helps provide information that leads to an arrest. If you have any information that might help locate the responsible party, the HVHS is asking that you call or text them at 917-701-3870 or email them at REPORTCRUELTY@HVHUMANE.ORG.

HVHS president and humane law enforcement officer, AnnMarie Gaudio told LoHud that this is a case of animal cruelty and she's hoping they can find the previous owner, "I am concerned there are other dogs where she came from."
