It Only Took A Year: Double Tree and their Cookies Now Serving Dutchess County
It feels like this plan has been underway for a while and truly it has. The Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel announced back in 2022 that they were going to undergo renovations. Once that was complete the hotel would emerge as a brand new hotel with a familiar name.
I refer to them as the chocolate chip cookie hotel. Yes, you may have guessed, or maybe you heard that the Double Tree by Hilton was coming to the City of Poughkeepsie.
Double Tree by Hilton Officially Open in Poughkeepsie
It hasn't been a secret. It was back in October of 2022 that the announcement was made about the hotel becoming a Double Tree by Hilton. They also said it would be open in 2023 and it looks like they made it under the wire.
For most of 2023 if you drove down Civil Center Plaza you could see the hard work going on. Two construction dumpsters sat on the sidewalk for most of this year. They even offer furniture for free in November of 2022.

The Fall of 2022 was also when the Double Tree reached out to the community to weigh in with their ideas. They want to know what people in the area expect from the hotel. A rooftop bar was discussed, and people also asked for the return of the Big New Year's Eve Party.

When Did the Double Tree Officially Open in Poughkeepsie New York
In October this year, the Double Tree revealed rooms were ready and invited people to see the renovations. In November, the Double Tree Poughkeepsie announced they were ready to take your reservation. As of last night, the change has become official. They have changed their social media, and the temporary signs have been hung. Double Tree has even made the Google Map, so it must be official.
I have not seen the inside yet but I will be stopping in sometime in 2024, especially if they work out the rooftop bar.
