Equip Yourself For Possible Loss Of Power

We could see wind gusts as high as 60 miles per hour and steady winds around 30 miles per hour over the chance of losing power is possible. Short of getting a generator in 48 hours, you should make sure that you have candles and battery-operated light sources. You should also make sure that all your electronics are fully charged. You might also want to double-check your fridge and freezer. The good news you could put your food in the backyard and it would keep it cold.

Prep Your Home For The Cold Weather

As the temps drop, the chances of pipes freezing and bursting to go up. Plumbers recommend that you let your outside faucets drip a bit to keep water flowing so the chances of the water freezing goes down. You can also make sure your windows are ready for the cold. Adding a layer of insulation would help keep the inside of your home warmer.

Pull Out Your Warmest Clothes

It goes without saying that at some point you will have to venture outside your home this weekend. IT could be to shovel or walk the dog, you need to keep warm. So go ahead and make sure your winter clothes are ready to roll this weekend. One of the best ways to stay warm is to dress in layers. That way you can remain warm without overheating.

Be Ready To Cancel Christmas Plans

Most people have plans to get together with family or friends this weekend to celebrate Christmas. Of course with blizzard-like conditions, travel around Western New York could become almost impossible. While it might be inconvenient, you might have to postpone your Christmas plans, at least until Monday or next weekend.
