Rockefeller Who? America’s Favorite Christmas Tree Is In Upstate, NY This Year
When you think of the best Christmas tree in America, what is your first initial thought?
Probably the one in Rockefeller Center, right? Well, if that's what you thought you'd be wrong.
Best Tree in America Can Be Found in Rochester, New York
According to the experts at Newsweek, Genesee Brew House three-story tree is this years Best Christmas Tree. However, the tree isn't an actual tree at all.
It's built entirely of beer kegs.
Newsweek writes:
The Keg Tree celebration unites the community with live music, local food and seasonal beer releases, all while supporting local charities. More than a photo op, it's a symbol of resilience and pride for a city that knows how to work hard and celebrate together.
You have to give them credit, it's a unique twist on a classic tradition and it's gorgeous!
Additionally, the Keg Tree at Genesee Brew House is up for USA Today's 10Best Christmas Trees.
Upstate, NY Tree Shines Bright at Rockefeller Center
Surprisingly, the tree at Rockefeller Center came in at #5 on Newsweek's list.
The tree this year hails from East Greenbush, New York in Rensselaer County. It's a Norway Spruce sitting pretty at 75-feet tall and weighing in at 11 tons.
On December 3rd, 2025, the East Greenbush Norway Spruce was lit with thousands of LED lights in front of millions during NBC's Christmas at Rockefeller Center ceremony.
She's a beaut, Clark!
It's pretty impressive that 2 of the most popular trees in America are currently from Upstate, New York right?
The tree will be lit until around the 2nd week in January. Then, the tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity where they will mill the tree and use it for lumber to build homes for families in need.
