
Get Ready for New York’s Amazing ‘Franken-Pumpkins’
Upstate New York has always been a destination for the perfect pumpkin, but some farm stands have taken the famous Halloween symbol to a whole different level.
The largest pumpkin ever grown in North America was grown in New York State, and another local farmer took home giant pumpkin honors last year in Saratoga Springs, NY for a 2,018-pound behemoth (below). The Franken-pumpkins, however, are more about style than size.

The creative pumpkins that will soon be for sale across the region are made through careful molding. The effect is achieved by placing secure molds over small pumpkins. As they grow, the gourds soon fill out the mold, creating the faces below.
Where Do Molded Pumpkins Come From?
