What’s Up With the Guy That Walks With a Bible on 17K?
If you've ever driven on 17K in the Montgomery-Newburgh area, you've likely seen him.
As an Orange County native, I have spent a fair amount of time in the Montgomery-Newburgh area. Driving on route 17K is second nature to me. I can get most places I want to go to in Orange County on 17K. So as someone who spends a lot of time on that road, I've noticed something new.
If you're like me and drive a lot on 17K, you might have noticed a change as well. Even if you don't drive on this road often, you've likely noticed something out of the ordinary on this road. It's not a building, it's not a structure, it's actually, a person.
On 17K, there is a man who is constantly walking on the shoulder of the road. Normal, right? Well, normally, yes. But this man isn't just walking on the shoulder all the time. He's walking on the shoulder, holding a bible up in his hand as he does. Every time I've seen him walking on 17K, he is proudly holding up a bible as he does. He never bothers anyone or does anything wrong, it's just different to see!
Now, I've never talked to this man. And I don't know anything about him, but I WANT to. I feel like he has to have an incredible back-story. What compelled him to walk up and down 17K all the time with a bible in hand? I really just want to know what's up with him and why he does it.
Well, for the time being, I hope he's safe, happy, and bundled up when walking on 17K in the winter.
