I think it's safe to say we all have our fears that are justifiable. You have those that are afraid of flying and afraid of the dark or maybe they are scared of small spaces.

Those fears make sense, but then we have those irrational fears that are just ridiculous.

For an extremely long time, my irrational fear was that I would be home alone and sneeze in one room, and hear someone say "Bless you!" from the other room. It's irrational as long as ghosts don't exist.

Now, this was my irrational fear until earlier this week.

Missing Submarine Unlocks New Irrational Fears

On Sunday a 22-foot submarine that was carrying 5 people on board to explore the wreckage of the Titanic lost contact with support on land and has since gone missing. Apparently, the small submersible only has 96 hours of oxygen for those to survive inside.

At last check, on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, U.S. and Canadian crews were still searching for the vessel.

This has now unlocked a new irrational fear in my mind. Getting lost at sea...UNDER THE SEA?! That's absolutely terrifying, my claustrophobia is itching. Why is it irrational? Well, according to several sources to get on board the 22-foot submarine you have to cough up about $250,000. I don't have that kind of money, so I'd never find myself in that kind of situation.

Enough about me and my irrational fears. What are yours? We polled some folks across the Hudson Valley and got some great responses!

Here's a little recap of some of the wildest irrational fears across the Hudson Valley:

What's your most irrational fear? Mine is sneezing when you're home alone and someone says "bless you!" from the other room.
