The day of just getting in the car and traveling to the nearest ski resort is a thing of the past. With COVID-19 protocols, you now must plan ahead if you want to go skiing at one of the mountains near the Capital Region. Here's what you need to know. With nearly three feet of snow falling in and around the Capital Region in the last few days, skiers and snowboarders are anxious to hit the slopes. Although the mountains are open for the season, there is reduced capacity and many other protocols in place to ensure the safety of their patrons.

According to News 10 ABC, ski resorts and mountains are making sure that their customers are safe while enjoying their facilities. There are many amenities that will not be available this year as in years past. The one common protocol that most if not all resorts are following is requiring the advanced purchase of tickets online before you arrive at the ski resort. There will be reservations required for dining services and guests must stay together in groups when they ride the chair lifts.

News 10 ABC, took six of the top ski resorts in and around the Capital Region and laid out what is required due to COVID-19 protocols. They looked into Catamount, Gore, Hunter, Plattekill, Whiteface, and Windham. Click here to see the guidelines and requirements for each of these ski resorts.
