Vogue has named "the birthplace of the American vacation" and the nation's largest protected park New York's ultimate getaway destination! Of course, we are talking about the Adirondack Mountains. According to Vogue, there are some key elements that earn the region the title of "ultimate:"

Within this natural splendor lies a network of sleepy towns linked by scenic byways with outdoor activities, farm-to-table provisions, and architectural masterpieces.

Vogue says the region's stunning camps, easy travel access, and four-season recreational opportunities also add to the appeal of the Adirondacks.

The article even recommends some great local spots to visit, including several in Lake Placid like the Eastwind Hotel...

Santa's Workshop in North Pole, New York has been a Christmas tradition in the Adirondack Mountains for almost 75 years! In operation since 1949, Santa's Workshop is known as the "...forerunner of present-day theme parks in the United States." Sanat's Workshop is a year-round celebration of all things Christmas, featuring rides, special characters, real reindeer, a toy shop, and so much more according to their website.
