For the past few months, we've been working alongside some great Hudson Valley Veteran based organizations.

You've probably heard us share information about several different food drives we supported to meals on the table of Hudson Valley Veterans with Mental Health America of Dutchess County, VET2VET, and Hudson Valley Veterans Alliance.

While this time around is not a food drive, Mental Health America of Dutchess County Vet Programs will be hosting another event for Veterans. On Friday, December 11th, MHA of Dutchess and VET2VET will be hosting a Veteran Stand Down Event.

Devin Auriana, VET-TAP Program Specialist, explained to us that the Veteran Stand Down event is a "wrap-around service event for homeless and at-risk Veterans." It's a free event for these Veterans to visit that will consist of services for housing and employment.

At the Veteran Stand Down event, veterans who come out will be able to receive a free hair cut as well. Auriana explains that when thinking about the job hiring process for homeless or at-risk Veterans a hair cut could be important.

Visitors will also be treated to a free meal.

Veteran Stand Down will kick off at 10 am on Friday, December 11th, at the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge at 29 Overocker Road, Poughkeepsie New York 12603.

If you're interested in more details about the Veteran Stand Down event, you can contact the vet-tap program by phone at (845)473-2500 ext.1386 or emailing Devin Auriana at dauriana@mhadutchess.org.

This is a COVID compliment event, as social distancing measures will be in effect and masks must be worn at all times.
