Town of Wappinger Residents Urged To Stay Alert After Car Break-Ins
Town of Wappinger Sees and Increase in Car Break Ins
In a social media post the Town of Wappinger shared a statement from their Town Supervisor Joseph D. Cavaccini.
The post explains there have been a number of car break ins reported recently, but Cavaccini is making sure his community is taken care of.
Cavaccini writes "I have been in direct contact with the New York State Police regarding these incidents, and we will continue working closely with law enforcement to ensure additional patrols and proactive community policing efforts throughout the Town."
Adding:
Our Wappinger Patrol Division of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office remains actively engaged in patrolling neighborhoods and responding to community concerns.
While law enforcement is on the lookout, Cavaccini has given a few tips on how the community can keep their belongings safe.
Protect Your Car from Break Ins
Town Supervisor Cavaccini explains that there were 2 reports of car break ins over the last few days.
He is urging all residents to "remain vigilant" by doing the following to keep your car and belongings safe: Lock your vehicle door at all times, and take all your valuables (keys, wallets, personal belongings) out of your vehicle with you.
Cavaccini adds "One incident, let alone two, are far too many to occur in this Town. We have zero tolerance for it. Public safety is a shared responsibility."
The Town of Wappinger also urges to contact New York State Police "immediately" if you notice any suspicious activity or if you have any information regarding the break ins.
Together, by staying alert and working cooperatively with law enforcement, we can help keep our neighborhoods safe and protect our community.
