Poughkeepsie Schools Announce Exciting New School Bus Initiative
Just days out from the start of a new academic year, an exciting announcement was shared within the Poughkeepsie City School District about the elementary school bus initiative for tracking bus routes.

Exciting News for Poughkeepsie Elementary School Bus Initiative
The Poughkeepsie City School District recently announced a partnership with a transportation technology company called BusRight 'to devise and implement bus routes for all students grades pre-K through 5 who live more than a half-mile from their school, in addition to special populations that already received bus service.'
The BusRight app is helpful for families to keep track of their children's bus routes from an app-based program that can be downloaded to a phone or other device.
It allows for the user to follow the routes, receive notifications when the bus begins and ends its route, view the expected arrival time at their child’s bus stop and receive communications from the district’s Transportation Supervisor Dawn Roger.
Each eligible family should have received communication directly from BusRight to activate and create an account.

In the information that was shared via the Poughkeepsie City School District Facebook page, and also directly via email through the district, direct those with questions about the app or about bus transportation in general, to contact Dawn Roger, Transportation Supervisor, at droger@poughkeepsieschools.org.In their post, the Poughkeepsie City School District indicated that families are not obligated to use the app, they can opt out and still receive bus service from the district.
The app is an additional service for families who are interested in tracking bus routes in real time and be notified of any possible disruptions.
Poughkeepsie City School District families were urged to set up accounts with this new bus tracking system 'without delay' before the school year begins, and check the email they have on file with the school district for additional information.
