Without a doubt, I understand why guests love to visit New York state. Each season has something to offer and some of the landscapes in New York state look like a scene in a calendar.

I never get bored of the natural beauty that we get to experience in this state and especially in the Hudson Valley. Spring and summer are my favorite months when everything is blossoming, green and vibrant.

Spending time in nature and exploring our state parks can also allow us to appreciate what we have within the area. While visitors travel to the state parks here in New York state, we hop in the car for a short drive to check them out for ourselves.

You Could Visit Two Counties At One State Park In The Hudson Valley


A fan favorite, Hudson Valley state park allows visitors to be in two counties at once.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation shared information about the Bear Mountain State Park.

They included that this park is,

“situated in rugged mountains rising more than 1,200 feet above the west bank of the Hudson River, about 45 miles north of New York City.” 

The New York State Department of Conservation shared that the Bear Mountain State Park is located in Orange and Rockland Counties. This allows guests to be in two counties at the same time.

Which Hudson Valley State Park Has Some Of The Most Visitors?


I thought that Walkway Over The Hudson State Park was one of the most popular visited parks in the Hudson Valley. They have over 600,000 visitors per year in Dutchess County, NY.

However, Bear Mountain State Park can see over 2 million visitors per year, which is exciting! New York State shared that in 2022, this park saw over 2.4 million visitors in that year.

Those who have not been to Bear Mountain State Park may question why there are alot of guests who travel here.

What Draws Millions Of Visitors To This Hudson Valley State Park Each Year?


Bear Mountain State Park has amenities for all ages during each season. Hiking, biking, fishing and more are available on site. They also have boat rentals.

Guests can visit their swimming pool, museum, zoo, and their Merry-Go Round. Hotel accommodations are offered at the Bear Mountain Inn and some describe it to be a castle.

Their historic inn continues to feature dining options at their restaurant, gift shop and more. The Spa at Bear Mountain is also open to guests.

They also host weddings and private events on site. There truly is something for everyone at Bear Mountain State Park. It makes sense why over 2 million people visit this New York state park each year.
