New York Home to Some of the Best Restaurants in America

I think it's safe to say, New York as a whole is a foodies paradise. From farm to table restaurants and local cafes in New York State, to those fancy restaurants in New York City, New York has it all.

For the 3rd annual Food & Wine Global Tastemakers awards, Food & Wine reached out to "400 chefs, writers, and travel pros" to gather recommendations and rankings for the best restaurants across the nation.

Food & Wine writes "These are the spots they loved in their own travels or would recommend to visiting family and friends." The list of 15 consists of a steakhouse in Miami to a restaurant in Saint Paul Minnesota with a "grandma chic" tasting menu.

3 New York restaurants made the list including 1 in the Hudson Valley. In New York City, Penny, a "simple seafood spot" in the East Village and The Musket Room a "Neighborhood Restaurant" at 265 Elizabeth St, made the list.

As for the Hudson Valley, we focus our attention to Dutchess County.

Stissing House is one of the oldest taverns in the United State dating back to 1782 and Chef Clare de Boer was named Food & Wine's Best New Chef in 2018.

Food & Wine explains why Stissing House nabbed their top spot writing:

"The daily changing menu features simple pleasures, like pickles, chips, or a cup of broth. But the real treats are roasted over the wood fire, like dayboat scallops cooked over the coals, or a suckling pig crisped up until crackling."
