In the 1990's, Ira Gutner shared his dream with this Dutchess County, NY village by opening Samuel's of Rhinebeck. At the time, this candy spot could be described as,

" a boutique candy and coffee shop in the heart of bucolic Dutchess County."

Ira got the idea of the name Samuel from his Uncle Sam who introduced to something special, penny candy.

John Traver, the manager and partner of Samuel's of Rhinebeck was shocked and didn't know what to do with the sudden passing of Ira in 2014.

Traver explained that three local families who also shared the same of Ira as the community did, came together and bought Samuel's of Rhinebeck.

Today, guests can visit Samuel's Sweet Shop which continues to honor Ira with a wide variety of candy selections, chocolate, baked goods, coffee, tea and more.

On Instagram, Samuel's Sweet Shop also shared that they not only have a sweet shop but a "cozy coffee bar" as well.

They are open Sunday through Thursday from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm. On Friday and Saturday, Samuel's Sweet Shop is open from 7:30am until 9:00 pm.

Clodhoppers are included as well, they are peanut butter, pretzel and graham crackers in milk chocolate. Candy Blocks are the perfect combo of salty, sweet and crunchy and are also in Paul Rudd's Favorites Sampler too.
