Goshen EMS Makes Unique Rescue Roadside

Usually when we hear stories of our local first responders rescuing a victim it's of the human variety.

However, there are those stories where first responders go above and beyond to help local wildlife or pets in the region.

Goshen EMS shared photos and details from a recent rescue involving an owl. In a post on Facebook they write "whooo knew Goshen EMS helped more than just people?"

According to the post the owl was found injured outside of the County building. Thankfully, Goshen's EMS Chief was driving by and she happens to be a "bird enthusiast."

Goshen EMS writes:

With the help of her crew, Chief Eagleston who has some exotic bird experience was able to throw a blanket over the bird and was able to transport it to the vet where the rehabilitator would eventually retrieve the injured owl after it received the care needed.

Bear Encounters on The Rise in the Hudson Valley

We've seen a spike of bear encounters across the Hudson Valley over the last few weeks.

In early June a woman in the Catskill area was trampled by a black bear while gardening in her backyard.

Then, last week, a dog owner took her dog outside for a bathroom break. The dog barked towards the woods when a bear came out and attacked.

There's a GoFundMe page has been set up for the dog as they will have to undergo several surgeries in the future.
