3 Pop Up Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks Now Open
Well, the one thing that is cool about all this cold weather is it means our Hudson Valley outdoor pop-up ice rinks are up and running.
Just today the Town of Newburgh Recreation Department at Chadwick Lake shared that they have got their rink set up awaiting a deep freeze. They expect it to open soon due to our falling temperatures.
Ice Rink at Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh, New York
Chances are if you grew up in the Hudson Valley your first experience ice skating in the winter was on a frozen pond. There is something about open-air ice skating that makes it feel more exhilarating than an indoor rink. Of course, if you are going to skate on a pond or lake you need to make sure you follow safety precautions.
Towns like Newburgh and others have come up with a way for you to enjoy the feeling of skating outdoors without the risk of being out on a pond or lake. Various communities have set up outdoor pop-up ice rinks for skaters of all ages to enjoy. As soon as the Chadwick Lake rink is frozen you can get out to enjoy it. The Dutchess County Parks Department at Bowdin Park has set up a temporary rink as well.
