It’s that time of year where we want to take scenic drives. There are plenty of backroads with views of rolling green hills, farmland, mountains and more.

Thankfully, we don't have to travel far if we want to see these roads in our area.

What Are Some Of The Most Beautiful Roads In The Hudson Valley?

Everyone has their own opinion about the most beautiful roads in the Hudson Valley and that's great! This adds to places where we can drive through on a warm and sunny day.

Personally, I love the roads near Minnewaska Park Preserve in Ulster County around 44/55. There’s something about the nature views and lush green trees that make it a pretty drive. In this area, there are plenty of places to stop over and take pictures of the scenery or with others.

Another favorite road to drive within the Hudson Valley includes the Hawk’s Nest! This road is also known as Route 97 in Port Jervis, along the Delaware River.

The views are some of the best within New York State and it’s something that everyone should experience! The road is not only beautiful but it’s known for being the windiest as well. The Hawk’s Nest was even used in commercials as well! Some may refer to this road as a rollercoaster, haha.

On social media, the Town of Deerpark Police Department shared helpful information about the Hawk’s Nest Road. They also agree that the views are “incredible”. This police department is reminding the community that the speed limit is only 35 MPH along NY 97 on the Hawk’s Nest.

While this may be news to some residents, others may be already aware of the speed limit on this popular road.

The Town of Deerpark Police Department shared that the speed limit of 35 MPH due to how windy and narrow this road is. They also included that there are plenty of drivers who are on this road and is another key reason for the importance of maintaining this speed limit. There were over 400 likes on this post and 100 shares!

Shoutout to the Town of Deerpark Police Department for giving us a heads up that they will be enforcing this speed limit and more. This is one of the reasons why we should slow down along the Hawk’s Nest but also to safely enjoy the scenery around us while in that area.

There is a stop off section to park our vehicles and to take pictures which is recommended! Whether this is a selfie of yourself, a portrait mode picture of the views or to simply take in the natural beauty, it’s so worth it!

What Else Can We Do In The Area Of The Hawk's Nest?

While at an overlook on the Hawk’s Nest, be sure to keep your eyes open for any tubers on the Delaware River. You may also see trains across the Pennsylvania River and wildlife around as well.

Nearby, you can check out the Riverside Park and West End Beach. There’s also the D&H Canal Trail near the Hawk’s Nest area for more nature adventures!
