When you think about craft beer, or beer in general, you may not necessarily associate it with community initiatives and grant funding, but boy are you wrong!

A favorite local brewery was recently recognized as the recipient of a grant, and will receive funding from the state brewers association for two specific community-based initiatives.

NYSBA & Social Impact

New York state is noted as the second largest craft beer market in the US, with more than 500 licensed breweries to date. The New York State Brewers Association (NYSBA) works to unify, propel and protect the craft beer industry across the state through legislative advocacy, education and promotion.

Dedicated to building a more inclusive, sustainable, and connected craft beer community, the NYSBA helps to foster 'an equitable industry' across NYS through social impact initiatives.

Annually, the NYSBA will invest $10,000 in scholarships and grants through a member-driven application process that 'supports social impact initiatives aligned with the association's goals.'

Now in their third year hosting Books for the Burgh, Newburgh Brewing helped to coordinate the efforts of tons of community partners that resulted in over 500 brand new children's books (in three languages) being purchased and donated to local libraries. In addition, this year they implemented a Thanksgiving Meals Program that fed 400 members of the community.

Newburgh Brewing's Paul Halayko, on receiving the grant from NYSBA, shared the following.

Craft breweries throughout New York, and the country, have strong ties to their community and do so much great work to support charities and not for profits. Our Thanksgiving Meals program and Books for the Burgh are 2 initiatives we embarked on this year that we are very proud of.

Our Thanksgiving Meals gave close to 400 meals to those in need. Our entire team at the brewery, from our kitchen to our bartenders to our brewers, work extremely hard and take great pride in the work we do in our community.

Congratulations to Newburgh Brewing for being recognized as leaders within the community, and for always finding ways to give back.
