So, how much do you currently pay for a First-Class US Postage Stamp? Do you know? Don't feel too bad if you don't.

I asked the 6 people closest to me and none of them knew either. They all pretty much responded that it had been so long since they had 'snail mailed' anything that they had no idea.

To be transparent, the current price of a single First-Class US Postage stamp is 58 cents. Most likely you are buying a 'Forever Stamp' so the price isn't even listed on the stamp (like they were in the old days).

How much would the USPS raise stamp prices if they get the approval?

Let's be honest, it is highly unlikely that they will not get the approval that they need. Just talking about the coveted and most used First-Class stamp, that would increase from the current 58 cents to a new 60 cents each.

When would this increase take place in postage prices if it is approved?

If the approval comes through, this would be effective on any stamp purchases made after July 10, 2022. Postcard stamps would increase from the current 40 cents each to a new price of 44 cents.

How can you save money now on postage before the increase?

The savings depends on how many stamps you actually use. Is it worth it to go ahead and purchase 100 stamps before the increase? The Forever stamps can still be used without having to purchase additional postage to mail your letter or postcard.

Is the only place to get US Postage Stamps the Post Office? Where else can you buy stamps?

Glad you asked. There are actually quite a few other places where you can purchase stamps, that do not mark them up. Places like the bank or the grocery store or maybe even the pharmacy can also sell stamps to you and will be happy to do so. I would encourage you not to pay an additional 'convenience fee' for the convenience, however.
