Time is running out on your hunting license in New York State as many will expire on August 31st.

New York State sure has had it's share of interesting weather this month. While portions of New York State are dealing with more than 5 inches of rain and flash floods, others are enjoying sunshine and moderate temperatures. But while we move to the dog days of summer, many are looking ahead to fall and hunting season.

The summer is so much fun, and I certainly am not trying to wish it away. There are some great concerts and festivals that are still on the way before we get to the official end of summer. However, for those of us who love to hunt, this time of the year we start to plan ahead and if you don't have a lifetime license, being prepared includes making sure you get your hunting license and doe permits squared away.

WHEN DO NY HUNTING LICENSES EXPIRE?

As we head in to the second half of July, there are just a few weeks left until the new 2023/24 licenses go on sale. According to the New York State DEC website:

Hunting & Trapping licenses are valid from September 1 - August 31 annually. New annual licenses go on sale in August each year.
