More than ever, our vehicles have features that make driving even easier.

Thankfully, we can choose vehicles that have features including back up cameras, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, heated seats and more.

Looking back at cars that we may have driven in the past, it's easy to say that we're spoiled by technology and vehicle enhancements. Although we have all of these features in our vehicles, it's still important for us to remember safety tips when we're on the road.

NYSDOT Recommends Following These Winter Driving Safety Tips

Recently, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) shared helpful information about winter driving safety tips within New York state.

Some of these tips include drivers slowing down when it's snowing and to not crowd New York state snow plows so that they have enough room to clear roadways.

NYSDOT mentioned that New York state drivers should also clean their vehicles off after a snowfall. Along with the NYSDOT, there are other organizations who have shared their recommendations of how to stay safe on the road during the winter.

Which Conditions Should New York Drivers Never Use Cruise Control In?

The American Automobile Association (AAA) provides drivers with roadside assistance. They are also known for being an insurance company and travel agency.

AAA explained that drivers shouldnt use cruise control in rain, snow and other weather conditions. They explained that using cruise control during certain weather conditions won't allow the system to properly maintain an ongoing speed of the vehicle.

When roads are wet, it's important to not have cruise control on because a high speed could allow the vehicle to hydroplane when it's near water.

AAA continued to share that ice and snow could be considered as "low traction surfaces". These surfaces may cause a vehicle to spin or skid if using cruise control.

They recommend,

"Drive safe and avoid using cruise control on slippery roads."

While I was on AAA's website, I also noticed that they provide additional help information. Random questions that we may not have the answer to such as the price of what it costs to paint a car, how to improve our miles per gallon, the explanation of a car tune up and more.

I saw articles that also included how the tread on our vehicles tires can tell us when to buy new tires along with changing filters in our vehicle. I found myself scrolling on their website for quite some time, learning things about my car that I didn't know it even needed!

Overall, I hope that this read was informative and helpful to you as I learned something new too.
