It's always funny when you see the same town name pop up across the country. I've only been to New Windsor, NY a few times, but I always thought it was a cute little town with some charm.

What's in a name?

This all started by wanting to learn more and I was doing some research and the name 'New Windsor' was inspired by Windsor, England, however they aren't too sure who specifically named it.

When I was looking online, I started noticing that other towns with the name 'New Windsor' were popping up and I thought "this doesn't look right". It's funny to think that there are other places across the country with the same name and I wanted to dig a little bit deeper and find out more. Here's what I found:

Maryland:

There is a New Windsor, Maryland and it looks very cute. The downtown area looks pretty cute and apparently Teddy Roosevelt visited. It looks like both towns share the fact they a lot of history has happened there.

Illinois:

Another one with the same name is New Windsor, Illinois. New Windsor is located in Mercy County and the motto for the town is "Biggest Little Rodeo In The World". As you can imagine rodeo is very big here and their fairgrounds also host a horse show. How fun.

There's our research, but if you know of any other towns with the name New Windsor please send us the information on the station app.
