If you are planning to be in New Paltz on June 11th make sure you leave time to witness one of the town's most talked about annual events. That will be the date for the New Paltz Regatta held almost every year since 1955.

This event includes a parade down through town with the participants and their hopeful floats/boats in tow. This gives them an opportunity to show off the craft that they plan to navigate down the Wallkill from what was called the "Old Swimming Hole" now known as the New Paltz Boat Launch on Plains Road.

What is the New Paltz Regatta in New Paltz, New York?

Once all the homemade water crafts are launched the race is on. The plan should they stay afloat is to be the first to make it to the finish line which is officially the Carmine Liberta Bridge. That is where Route 299 crosses the Wallkill River and the end of town as you head out to The Ridge.
