PHOTOS: Early Reviews Are in for Highland’s New Deli and Pizzeria

The wait is finally over for Ulster County commuters interesting in trying Highland's latest addition: Dolce Caffé & Pizzeria.

For months, a "coming soon" sign teased drivers on Route 44 about the upcoming restaurant that was set to open just down the street from Rocking Horse Ranch. While the location has been challenging in recent years (two separate businesses were forced to close just months after opening in the last two years), hopes were high that the most recent venture would have some more staying power.

Dolce Caffé & Pizzeria Now Open in Highland, NY

Dolce Caffé & Pizzeria has opened at 591 Route-44 in Highland, NY. While the building was home to the Flavorful Ladle from 2019 to 2022, two other restaurants have since opened (and closed) their doors in the same location. Dolce, however, seems to be off to a strong start.

Community Reacts to New Dolce Caffé & Pizzeria in Highland, NY

"Nothing but good stuff at our new neighbors Dolce Caffé on 44/55 in the old Flavorful Ladle spot!", came an early review in a local community Facebook group. "Their pizza was delicious and the atmosphere is cozy and clean. We will go back without hesitation", added another.

Others chimed in not only with support of the new business, but with pleas to their neighbors to help keep Highland's newest restaurant open longer than its last two predecessors. "Dolce opened up on 44/55 awesome food and the girls there are very nice", shared one resident. "Keep this place open the area can use it".

"We can't believe our first week has already flown by!", Dolce recently shared on Facebook (below). "We’re beyond grateful for the love and support from our family, friends, and the entire Highland community — and even those who traveled from far away just to visit us"

Dolce Caffé & Pizzeria is open Tuesday - Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m, and has a large menu ranging from pizza, sandwiches, and pasta to breakfast favorites like omelets, bagels, and pancakes.
