Netflix Ends 2025 on a Strong Note

The last few weeks of 2025 were a busy one for streaming services. With many people on vacation for the holidays, one of the ways vacationers were unwinding was to stream new and old favorites.

Netflix was churning out new shows and movies during the last week of the year including some big titles.

Stranger Things Season 5 came to an end, ending the show forever. Emily in Paris returned for it's 5th season,  50 Cent released a documentary about Diddy called "Sean Combs The Reckoning" and Wake Up Deadman: A Knives Out Mystery.

Did you know that one of those Netflix releases filmed in the Hudson Valley?

Knives Out Films Latest Release in The Hudson Valley...Sort of

As one of the millions of people who had a lot of time off during the holidays, I dabbled in Netflix often.

One of my first watches was Wake Up Deadman: A Knives Out Mystery. I've seen the other Knives Out movies and loved them, so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.

The latest installment was fantastic, with an amazing cast including Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, and of course Daniel Craig.

Knives out 3 follows the story of Jud Duplenticy (Josh O'Connor) , a boxer turned Catholic Priest. After an altercation with another deacon, Jud is assigned to a church in Upstate, New York led by Monsignor Jefferson Wicks ( Josh Brolin).

Anytime a movie mentions Upstate, New York there's always a chance they've filmed in the Hudson Valley. So, I did a little research.  Our Lady of Perpetual Fortitude, the church in the film, is fictional. As is the town Chimney Rock.

Unfortunately, the film didn't even shoot in New York. According Conde Nast, Knives Out 3 filmed in mostly in London.

With that being said, some of the establishing shots to make it look like Upstate, New York, were filmed in Cold Spring and included shots of Route 9D, North Street and Cold Spring Pizza.

Conde Nast spoke with Knives Out production designer Rick Heinrichs who said Cold Spring “had all the elements we were looking for with a main street that goes straight down to the river.”

Blink and you'll miss it! None the less, still pretty cool.

Have You Seen the Hudson Valley on Fox's Newest Show?

If you've driven in Wappingers Falls, near Bowdoin Park and the New Hamburg train station, you've probably seen yellow signs all around.

Those signs indicate that a show was filming in the area, sending crew and cast to their assigned areas. The show in question was Best Medicine, a new medical comedy on Fox.

Best Medicine is a remake of the U.K's Doc Martin. There was a sneak peek premier on Sunday, but Best Medicine will officially hit screens on Tuesday January 6th, 2026. Take a look:
