It's been a year since the start of the pandemic and many local companies and businesses had to either let people go or lay them off.

Now that we're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we can look at the data of those who are unemployed. According to statistics from, the U.S. Department of Labor reported almost 6,900 Connecticut workers filed first time claims for unemployment compensation during the second week of February, up some 780 claims from the previous week.
