Kids 16 & Under Only, Can Fish For Free This Day (May 15)
So you like to fish, right? Any chance you get you try to sneak away for a few peaceful hours of calm, you cast a bunch, maybe even catch one or two, right? Does that sound blissful? So why not share that love with someone under the age of 16?
I know my sister picked up her first fishing rod at the age of 4 or 5 and it started a life long hobby for her, so why not help someone else see if this could be a 'life-long hobby" for them.
On Saturday May 15, 2021, The City of Poughkeepsie Police and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Athletic League will be at Morgan Lake in Poughkeepsie, helping those under the age of 16, get their 'casting-on!.'
Yes, all kids must be accompanied by an adult that day, but they are asking that the adults refrain from fishing, but just observe. Of course there needs to be additional motivation to get those young ones out of bed and out of the house on a early Saturday morning, right? Start time for this event is 10 AM to 3 PM. So, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Athletic League will provide what they are calling, "light refreshments" and prizes.
If you have fishing gear and a tackle box, they are asking you to bring it, but they will have a few fishing poles to give away that day to up to 35 kids. For more information or if you have any additional questions, you can reach out to the City of Poughkeepsie Police Athletic League, through their Facebook page.
